We woke up and decided that because we had such a fun night in the raging storm, we would stay another one! The rain and wind were still pounding, and we left our tent hoping it would still be there when we returned. We drove 35 minutes to Norfolk to see the U.S.S. Wisconsin and the Nauticus Museum. We explored the battleship and read about its history. Inside the museum, we learned about naval warfare throughout U.S. history.
We were feeling pretty tired from our lack of sleep the night before so we drove back to our campsite and took a glorious 2 hour nap in the tent. It didn’t even matter that the rain and wind were still pummeling our tent. Awaking feeling refreshed, we felt an ache of hunger in our stomachs. This was satisfied by some greasy burgers from Five Guys which hit the spot. We went back to our campsite and wrote a blog post and did some trip planning before turning in for the night. The rain had finally let up a little and we thought it might be a peaceful night in the tent. We were wrong. The storm returned with a vengeance around 3:00 that morning. It was going to be another soggy night.
End Day 15.
Roughing it, for sure! But is your tent dry inside? If so, maybe it’s a peaceful snuggy sleep to hear the rain outside on the canopy…
