When planning our visit to Sequoia National Park, we learned that, due to road construction, the main road entering the park only opened every two hours. We planned our morning to arrive at the right time to make it through the road. We went to the visitor center before taking Big Tree Trail, Sherman Tree Trail, and Congress Trail. These tress are absolutely enormous. It was very neat to think that these trees are old enough that many of them were here when Christ walked the earth. You really have to see these trees in person to appreciate just how massive they are. Many were so large, we had trouble even fitting them in the frame of our pictures. We also took the Moro Rock Trail which lead us 350 steps up a giant granite dome formation. The views at the top were spectacular. We were amused by how many people who took the trail were terrified of the height and inched their way back down the stairs.
On the way out of the park, we drove through Kings Canyon and enjoyed views at various pull-off points. We drove 3.5 hours to Cambria, CA where Lauren had reserved a nice hotel room so we could celebrate her birthday the next day.
So beautiful!!
